The SunBurst Eagle III uses 13, 4.5 ampere hour NiMH batteries for its power source. The patented, super-tough, injection-molded nylon, interlocking battery capsules and control box are mounted on top grain leather (4 1/2" wide), which distributes the weight evenly around your waist. This power pack is supported with your choice of either a nylon or an elastic suspender. These suspenders adjust both front and back allowing you to wear the power pack up high or more towards your hips. Sizing is done with either a large or small adjustable elastic band that fits between the two belts - leaving your back "battery free." Very easy to change, one of these adjustable bands will be just right for you. The control box contains the walking light which shines at your feet and toggle switch, the Diamond posi-power headlight switch, the double female hand spot jacks, and the on/on toggle switch for hand spot power control (in the down position, the hand spot will operate on 10 batteries and in the up position it utilizes all 13 batteries, which doubles the candlepower). On the left side of the power pack is a capsule that contains the double female Diamond headlight jacks and the one-way charger receptacle. There is also a leather sheath to carry the 30 watt halogen hand spot and a leather strap that snaps around the handle to secure it. When fully charged, the hand spot will shine at full-brightness for 80 minutes. Also, on the right side next to the hand spot is a 4" x 4" nylon pouch with a Velcro flap that will hold your extra bulbs and red and amber lens.

Our 5-position posi-power headlight switch operates the Diamond headlight and switches on/off 5 of the NiMH batteries, then 7, then 8, then 9, and finally 10 batteries. This gives the user a wide selection of power and light to choose from. In other words, any power taken from the power pack is converted into light. No resistance is used in dimming the Diamond headlight or hand spot. Our #500 Diamond headlight bulb will shine approximately 8-9 hours on high and up to 20 hours on dim. If you wish, this ultra-light headlight will also accommodate either a red or amber lens. To recharge the Eagle III power pack, simply plug the charger into any wall receptacle and the one-way plug into the power pack. It can be left on the charger without using it for 30 days at a time. The power pack will be ready to go whenever you need it.
